Pets Make us Happy & Healthy

The simple truth is: pets and animals add value to our lives. They fill us with happiness; we can physically feel their love for us when we feed and talk to them in the morning. When we return home in the evening they burst with excitement that we came back.

Our pets give so much affection and we feel differently. This isn’t a coincidence, it’s a scientific fact.  We are chemically being affected by cuddling, walking, talking, feeding, caring for and spending time with our pets. A research and education foundation HABRI (Human-Animal Bond Research Initiative) has worked with multiple animal and medical organizations to study the human-animal bond.

Results show living support systems with our pets positively affect many aspects of our health. Pets build children’s immune systems, increase physical activity, help those on the Autism spectrum make social connections, alleviate stress and anxiety, cause the release of oxytocin and endorphins in the brain and can even lessen the symptoms of cancer, Alzheimer’s, PTSD and cardiovascular disease.

Pets are powerful. They are ideal for classrooms where students benefit and can write about the positive impacts pets have made in their life.
